When placing a booking on cargo.one, you might have noticed certain airlines have the "Get an AWB number assigned" function. Here is explained how this time-saving feature works ⌚

What is the AWB auto-assignation?

It's a function which makes your booking experience faster πŸƒπŸΌ

You can find this in the booking recap, on your right-hand side.

The system automatically retrieves a valid & free AWB number which can be used to place the booking, so you don't have to spend time looking for one!

How does it work?

It is important to understand that this function does not work the same for every airline. Let's see the differences:

Airlines with a neutral pool of AWBs

These airlines give you the chance to book with one of their neutral numbers, meaning the system directly pulls the AWB from their stock and assigns it to you at the moment of the booking. In other words, you don't necessarily need to have an AWB stock assigned by the airline to book with them πŸ˜‰

Here's a list of airlines with a neutral pool of AWBs:

  • Air Canada

  • AFKLM

  • Lufthansa

Airlines with auto-assignation from the customer's stock

These airlines have the auto-assignation function active, but no neutral pool.
The AWBs are automatically taken from a customer's stock, meaning that the airline first needs to assign a new AWB stock to the customer's CASS number.

With a valid AWB stock in place, the auto-assigned function will save you from extracting the numbers from your AWB stock, and it will do it for you!

Here's a list of airlines with auto-assignation but no neutral pool of AWBs:

  • Finnair

  • Etihad

  • TAP

  • LATAM

  • JAL

  • Qatar

  • Singapore Airlines

  • American Airlines

  • Avianca

  • ITA Airways

  • Turkish Cargo

Note: In case you run out of numbers or your AWB stock expires, the system will show you this message:

If this happens, please get in touch with the airline you want to book with and ask them for a new AWB stock. Here you can find their contacts:

Airlines with no auto-assignation

The following airlines only work with the customer's stock and the AWB number needs to be extracted and manually inserted by the user:

  • El Al

  • NCA

  • ANA

  • mas

  • IAG

  • Malaysia Airlines

  • Cathay

  • Virgin Atlantic

  • Swiss World Cargo

  • Ethiopian

  • Qantas

Note: In case you run out of numbers or your AWB stock expires, please get in touch with the airline you want to book with and ask them for a new AWB stock. Here you can find their contacts:
