What is General Cargo?

General Cargo is a goods type which excludes all shipments requiring special handling.

What is this about? 

The classification of general cargo differs per airline. We encourage you to study the general cargo definitions page in great detail to make sure your shipment falls under the general cargo classification. 

Please be advised, that it is your responsibility to ensure that your shipment is properly classified. 

Quick Help

In general, if your shipment does NOT require any special handling there is a good chance it is general cargo. 

Many of the following good types require special handling and are therefore excluded from our services. 

  • No Perishable - perishable goods of any kind (Fresh / Cooled)

  • No finished units (incl. reefer container)

  • No valuables (gold, diamonds, banknotes, etc.) (value of goods > 1000 USD/kg Chg-Weight)

  • No "Vulnerable Cargo" (obligatory product for: Silver, works of art, cigarettes, coins (legal currency), precious stones (if not valuables), skins and high-quality branded clothing, passports, airline tickets, secret documents).

  • No weapons of any kind (including other goods subject to the War Weapons Control Act)

  • No narcotics of any kind

  • No dangerous goods, according to IATA-DGR regulations

  • No dangerous goods in Excepted Quantities

  • In particular, no radioactive material

  • No Personal Effects or household goods (special security measures required)

  • No unaccompanied baggage

  • No "IBC" (liquid container)

  • No items to be dispatched as mail or courier material

  • No living organs

  • No animals (of any kind)

  • No hatching eggs.

  • No "human remains".

  • No diplomatic missions

  • No consolidation (loose and ULD)

  • No pharmaceuticals + diagnostics

  • No military or civil aircraft parts / engine
